- This move aims to replace TN panels, which have historically been favoured by professional players for their responsiveness.

OLED targets the e-sports stronghold
The competitive gaming sector is about to undergo a major technological transition. Until now, professional players have overwhelmingly preferred monitors equipped with TN (Twisted Nematic) panels, renowned for their maximum responsiveness despite limited image fidelity and viewing angles. Asus has decided to disrupt this market by unveiling a new range of OLED monitors specifically calibrated for high-level competition. By adopting a compact 24.5-inch format and Full HD resolution, the manufacturer is aligning itself precisely with the most demanding standards of the discipline, prioritising extreme fluidity over pixel count.
A 720 Hz technological showcase
At the top of this new range is a breakthrough model capable of reaching a maximum refresh rate of 720 Hz. This monitor incorporates a latest-generation Tandem WOLED panel offering a reported response time of just 0.02 milliseconds. This extraordinary display speed almost entirely eliminates motion blur during intense action sequences. By limiting the resolution to 1080p, the device allows the most powerful graphics cards to deliver hundreds of frames per second, ensuring optimal responsiveness.
A range tailored for all competitive profiles
To accompany this exceptional product, the manufacturer is releasing its new generation of screens with two complementary technical versions. The first is based on a 560 Hz QD-OLED panel with comprehensive connectivity, including HDMI 2.1 and USB 3.2 ports. Meanwhile, the entry-level model offers a refresh rate of 360 Hz on a QD-OLED RGB panel. This latter configuration represents a smooth and already extremely high-performance transition for the vast majority of players, while offering the infinite contrast and colours characteristic of self-emissive technology.

Maintaining a price coexistence
Despite the arrival of these high-performance alternatives, TN technology is unlikely to disappear from gamers’ desks immediately. The high-end 720 Hz model will carry a steep price tag of $1,100 when it launches in the fourth quarter of 2026, initially restricting it to a specialist clientele. Current TN monitors maintain a clear economic advantage, with prices generally found between €500 and €850. In the absence of confirmed pricing for the 560 Hz and 360 Hz OLED versions, the older technology will temporarily retain its status as a more accessible fallback solution.
